Learn the basics of the Art of the Tease with a little history to boot. Gain body confidence while learning a short routine.

Ever wondered how our eyes are seen from the audience? How eyelashes get so darned LONG? Wanna add some sparkle to your appearance?Learn the tricks of the Burlesque trade that make performers look like stars both onstage and off! Bring a notebook!  This class is recommended for students who have basic “everyday face” makeup skills, and wish to learn tried and true tips for glamorous stage application that they can then do for themselves. MEN ARE INVITED TO LEARN THE BASICS!

Eyelashes and adhesive are provided in this class.  Students will be expected to bring a basic kit of their own makeup and supplies, list provided upon registration.

 

Time: 120 Minutes

Introduction to Choreography introduces students to the basics of creating burlesque dance choreography for an audience. Students will learn how to break down a song easily, and look for moments to peel, move, fill, and WOW! - whether or not they are strong dancers. Students will learn to ask themselves questions and utilize their own creative processes providing opportunities and challenges that stretch the imagination about what they can explore, say, represent, and ask through their movement choices. Students will learn approaches to notating choreographic concepts, and methods for critical analysis of their own numbers. Students will develop an understanding of the choreographic/creative process and its relevance to other areas of performance.

 

This course is for all ranges and experience levels. Bring a pen, notebook, and a number or idea you are working on.
